Making a bike dog basket?

I have a 25 lb dog. All the dog bike baskets I've seen only hold up to 15 lbs. So I got the idea from someone else to make my dog's own basket using a milk crate and soft cushion. My question is, what is the best way to secure it to my bike? Thank you.

At 25 pounds, the dog carrier should be on the back of the bike. That's too much on the front for safe steering control.
You probably are best off purchasing a rear carrier that is supported at three points .. two supports on the bottom, generally the fender eyelets, and one support at the top, generally the brake bridge.
Most decent rear carriers will support your milk crate, cushion, and dog. A link to an Ebay item is below.
Just make sure he is secured so that the doesn't decide to exit at 20 miles per hour.

This is quite an easy project to tackle and well worth while. Go to a good bicycle shop and they will have an assortment of racks to attach to your bicycle, just pick the best and it will have all the fittings you need to attach it to your bicycle. They may even be able to help you with a carrier for your dog, if not it won't be difficult to improvise one. Visit a good DIY store and see what bits are available. You might also consider a trailer that attaches to the rear of your bicycle; these are purpose built and come with all the parts necessary for fitting to your bike. The trailers are made specifically for carrying very young children, but I have seen many people using them to carry dogs, particularly if the dog is too big to be carried on the bike.

I think that a miniature poodle will be great. It is small but not fragile and is very tough. You need to do a lot of grooming and poodles need attention and love. They are not scared to do things and are not always girly if they are used to a fast and rough life style. Hope this helps!!!
A regular basket will do fine. Add a litlle padding…. but make sure your dog likes to ride as much as you do. They can get hurt badly. I have no experience with U.K. bikes, I cant really even name one. So, I will limit myself to favorite U.K. dog… make mine Airedale!

Get friends to help you cart out anything you haven't used in the last 6 months and head to the nearest dumpster. Consider calling in professional cleaners to do the dishes, shampoo the carpets and furniture. Get rid of some of the pets since you clearly aren't motivated to clean up after them. Go to Target or Bed Bath and Beyond and get some slipcovers for the worst of the furniture. Call the landlord and have him make some basic repairs or call a handyman if you own the place. And try not being a slob- since you can't blame it all (a bag of sanitary napkins, bleck!) on your ex.

haha my pug loves sitting in the car and stickking his head out but hes a pug and weighs 20 punds darn! to bad the basket can oly hold 15 pounds!

Please. Do Not. Have a party in this hellhole. Please get into the habit of cleaning up things as soon as they happen. That glass should have been swept up the day it broke. Also, the bag of sanitary pads (are you serious?) should have been thrown away immediately. Pet messes need to be cleaned up as soon as the pet drops it. Wash all dishes at least once a day. Keep fruit in the fridge to cut down on flies.
If you can, take a week off work and do nothing but clean this house. If you don't have money to hire help, you can do it yourself, but it's going to be a long, hard week. Break it up into sections. Hit the kitchen first and wash all the dishes. Throw away old food and clean and scrub out the fridge. Scrub down all surfaces. Scrub the bathrooms and get the toilet fixed. Open all the windows while you are cleaning so bad smells can escape. Put slipcovers on furniture with burn holes. Rent a carpet cleaner and clean the carpets and urine-stained love seat before slipcovering it. Cart out garbage, car parts, unused bikes, old fridge. You will have to hire someone to fix the holes in the wall, the cracked step, and the broken window. Also, call an exterminator to get rid of the roaches. They will not leave because there is too much garbage for them to feed on and now there are too many and they are too strong.
And please do not let it get this bad again. Do a little cleaning every day or every few days; clean up messes as soon as they happen. Do not let human animals in your house if they are going to burn your furniture and smoke weed.Maybe cut down on the number of animals.
