taking dogs on bike ride…?

i have two small dogs and i just bought a bicycle. i want to take them with me somehow, and they can't walk alongside me because i might run them over and their little legs can't go that fast. so i've looked into different things, one is an enclosed trailer that attaches to your back wheel and pulls along behind the bike. i can put both dogs in this. another is a basket that sits on your handlebars and the dog has a harness or leash that keeps the dog from jumping out. i can only take one dog at a time with the basket. they are both specially made for dogs. which do you recommend?
